Richard B. Brandt papers, 1935-1996 (bulk 1955-1992).

The collection is comprised of six series: Biographical, Articles and Manuscripts, Course Material, Research Notes, Topical Files, and Correspondence. The papers document the breadth and depth of Brandt's investigations into philosophical questions, including his interest in psychology and anthropology as they influenced ethical values. Papers include detailed course materials (particularly on moral philosophy), published and unpublished writings on a wide range of issues, and extensive commentary onreadings. Of particular note are materials related to research Brandt conducted in the early 1950s for Hopi Ethics: A Theoretical Analysis.

Outside of museum holdings, no comprehensive survey and inventory of campus artwork had been attempted since 1937.
